The carnival is situated deep in the Repose woods and near a tiny lake, and it's always been there in some regard. It's a storied place, one where folks go to see magic and animatronics and mystery that seems almost too realistic. Here, the puppets don't have strings, and the fishman doesn't have an oxygen tank, fortunes come true, and the acrobats really fly - or they seem to. Past town, beyond the lights of Main Street, and you have to drive fifteen minutes through trees to see the tents and lights. There's parking off in the trees, and there are trailers and tents strewn all about and belonging to the talent.
The carnival features a Midway with food and games, and the fortune tellers and magicians can be found between the Midway and the rides. The Carousel and Ferris Wheel start turning at nightfall during the season, and they go well into the wee hours. The Big Top holds the 10-in-1 (where 10 acts entertain visitors), and the Freak Show has its own tent off to the side. The Burlesque & Hooch are a little ways back, and they require ID to enter. They serve drinks back there, where the hooch runs, so men and women can wait a spell for their turns to come around.
The show is dark Tuesday-Thursday.
